Down 2 sets to none and 17-22 in the 3rd set, I would have put our chances of winning at about 5%, maybe. We showed some mental toughness there. Alabama is a quality team, will make the NCAA tourney field, and Rivers is a beast, one of the best players if not the best we have faced this year, although she unraveled a bit towards the end.
Pushes our record against top 50 RPI teams to 3-2 on the year, just wish we had played more games against good teams up to this point. It was depressing when the broadcast kept showing the graphic about how awful the rankings were of SEC teams we played so far.
That's going to change now. We have just 4 chances remaining now to really enhance our NCAA tournament resume, Florida, @TAMU, and 2 against Kentucky. We could go 0-4 in those matches. Florida is still a legitimate top 15 team, and UK is playing really well and has by far the most impressive win in the SEC this year with their 3-0 sweep of the Gators in Gainsville. I would take a 2-2 record in those 4 games, right now, and be very happy. Huge showdown next Sunday at home against Kentucky as the last 2 undefeated conference teams face off. Yesterday Florida whipped TAMU on the road 3-1. We finish strong and we have a great shot at finishing at least 3rd in the conference now, 2 games up on TAMU.
