business has been booming, and he's a great men's softball player. And he had 'pedigree and personality'. And zero experience coaching women's college softball.
Why does this pick seem underwhelming to me?
Maybe he has a lot of contacts through his instructional business. Certainly the team needs someone who is a great technical instructor, which he apparently is. Not sure if that automatically translates into the skills required to be a great coach and more importantly a great recruiter.
Maybe the biggest coaching hire of his career, and at a really critical time for EE. That's why he is paid the big bucks, to make this kind of decision, and be responsible for the consequences, good or bad.
I guess I was expecting a top current assistant from a good college women's team, or maybe a head coach from a good mid major.
Is anyone else concerned by the apparent complete lack of history of being a coach of women's college softball?
