apparently he didn't even live in Columbia, and was not working with the pitchers on a regular basis. He'd teach the pitchers, be gone for a week, and with the other coaches working with them in his absence, the pitchers would pretty much revert back to their old mechanics.
Earleywine is an extremely gifted hitting coach, and if he can get the right hire with a good pitching coach, just to add to what you've said, there is a seriously high ceiling for the program.
