You pay market value for the coach of each program. It's not a difficult concept to grasp. Barry Odom is unproven and makes less money than about 20 NCAA basketball coaches. If we want to get a top 20 basketball coach it would require us to pay a basketball coach more than our football coach currently makes. That's not to say that you always have to pay a basketball coach more. If Odom starts winning then you give him a raise that aligns with his market value.
