Seeing your volume of posts, you probably follow this more than I do. I'm not saying we won't compete. We're Tigers, and we will absolutely compete. I'm not saying we won't win.
I'm saying there's a good chance some of our sports will struggle given the weather factor. But I completely agree w/ you that we need to embrace the sh_____y weather and a horror factor for visiting teams when we are the HOME team. It WILL be different if you are visiting Mizzou from Alabama or Florida or Georgia.
Of course there are sports that can do well despite the weather. Ohio State's men's tennis team has been ranked top 5 before and they're in a much colder climate than we are. But I think the cold weather schools that beat out the warm weather schools in outdoor sports are the exception, not the rule. I'm hoping for the best for our Tigers.
But I am just being a realist. You're too smart to not see the logic in our weather not being a big player and factor for outdoor sports competing during our traditional winter time.
Cold/hot/freezing cold/hot/freezing cold/hot
vs.
warm/warm/warm/warm/hot/hot/cold trip to Mizzou/hot/hot/hot
Which circumstance above sets you up to do best?
