Looking forward to the article, especially interested to see which schools they attended. Curious if the traditional college powers dominate at that level.
I'm a proponent of players attending college and working on a degree of some value. Unfortunately a lot of players are on some sort of 8 year undergrad plan. Ben Turner and Phil McCormick are kind of a rarity.
My original point was that a player opting to go the JUCO route had 5 opportunities to draft as opposed to a D1 players 3. The Juco player seems to have more options, therefore more bargaining power.
Your argument that 21 players of the total 70 players on the All-Star rosters (and 4 of the starting 16) having college experience does have me questioning if the college game is the best route to the highest levels of pro baseball.
