I agree that 8 teams is the biggest money maker, but the logistics of getting through that size of playoff are pretty big from a academic and timing standpoint. You have two major holiday periods when students are not on campus and spread out all over, and you have academic finals ending at many different times for many different schools.

You effectively lose 2-3 weekends at the end of the season navigating that mess and holidays. I can't see college football pushing into February?
