What is the purpose of a playoff?

To have the best teams win it on the field. Period.

You explain that a beauty pageant to determine the best teams is bad. Yet your very system is selecting the top 4 conference winners (and selectively ignoring teams that play and beat tougher opponents and lose to fewer bad opponents than the conference champions you support).

Why would you support a system that rewards a team for fewer tough wins and more losses to patsies?
