A selection committee isn't going to choose based upon OOC schedules.
This is the way football has been done ever since it started. And it will be the way football is done even with conference champions only (because there are more than 4 conferences).
A committee or poll will rank the teams based upon the entire schedule (in conference and out). But you are going to lessen the desire for teams to schedule big OOC games like Alabama (who did a home and home with Penn St), LSU (who played 2 tough AQ teams last season), or UGA (who has probably scheduled as hard a OOC as any team in the country the last 10 seasons).
Those OOC games can hurt a teams chances to win their division and conference (UGA lost Alec Ogletree for 4+ games when he got injured against Boise). He's our most athletic linebacker and actually has the highest upside if he could just stay on the field. 3rd most solo tackles at ILB despite missing 4+ games)
