housing, higher ed, and healthcare went to the moon in the same time frame, and then food and energy take off, it indicates to me that globalization has had an effect on prices that requires rethinking of traditional inflation metrics and rethinking of monetary policy generally.
let's not forget measuring inflation is not written somewhere in stone. i think it has already been measured 4 different ways by the government just since eisenhower.
