Notre Dame is a Christian Brothers school, BC is Jesuit. The two schools have only played each other 21 times in their history. There's no reason on earth why either would feel that they benefit from having two Catholic universities in the same conference (i.e., competing directly for Catholic kids). You're literally the first person I've ever heard mention this supposed relationship between the two schools.
