in a pod play all 4 teams from another pod, that way it would be more fair for determining the best team in each pod since each team would have played the same 7 teams (including head-to-head) and the other 2 games vs a permanent rival.
If done with 3 floating opponents, then there could be an argument made if one team had to play 3 great teams and another team had to play 3 stinkers that year, especially since in that case the only similar opponents were the other teams in your pod.
Either way, you would still get a home and home with every conference school every 6 years.
