that research grants are necessarily easier to get if a school is in any particular conference....yes even one with other research based schools. There is no other AAU school anywhere near us (well...Ga Tech but they were only admitted a couple years ago) and yet we get over half a billion in research grants annually....which is more than most AAU schools.
