but they're not just an Ag school...as in a bunch of backward farmers which is what most people think when you dismiss one university as being just an Ag school.

Due to in-state politics I do not think UNC would be allowed to make a move to another conference if it left NC State in a crappy position. It need not be an issue though. The Big 10 and SEC could just cooperate to divide the spoils in NC and VA such that all the state schools were taken care of and both state governments were thus placated. Both the Big 10 and the SEC would do quite well out of the deal.
