Oh christ. What a pathetic article. College basketball has "devolved" towards the NBA for a couple of decades now with out of control guards driving and running over their defenders with virtual impunity. If there was an increase in charge calls this last season which is currently just an anecdotal observation, it's actually nice to see that the rules are actually being followed. The charge is the most misunderstood call in the game - "OMG his feet weren't set" - as heard umpteen million times on Phognet, is a statement that underscores the erroneous interpretation of the rule. Set feet has nothing to do with a charge. It's all about defensive position and that's meant very little in the last few seasons in college basketball (i.e., staying between your man and the basket). The "change", if there actually has been a change, is or at least would be actually nice to see.
