Sherman was superintendent of Louisiana Seminary of Learning. But the next time you come to Tiger Stadium walk over to the Military Science building. The two cannon in front were used to fire on Fort Sumter. Sherman had them given to us.
Sherman was in St. Louis when the war began and that is where he is buried - in Calvary Cemetery. His son was a Jesuit and is buried at Grand Coteau, Louisiana.
One more thing. How many Confederate generals were from Florida? I'll give you a hint. I'm not sure how many were from Missouri, but it was necessarily more than Florida.
