OU wanted to limit LHN showing HS games and a grant of tv rights for the league.

They got both. They knew the PAC 12 wouldn't take OU and OSU alone. OU doesn't want to play in the western time zone.

But yeah, your story makes much more sense. Throw away our best rivalry, of the 5 best in football, so we get equal money out west where no one will see our games. Sure. OU just walked blindside into a deal not 1% of their fans wanted or supported, and boy, did we sure get humbled! Joe C Stoops and Boren sure got snookered on that deal!
