Since fans of other schools cannot resolve the origin of the inherent conflicts that drove the Big 12 conference to the brink of destruction, namely Texas, and to a lesser extent, OU, (which still exist) they have transfered their anger to another target, namely Missouri, since we were also a founding member of the Big 8.

It's like being angry at your husband but yelling at your best friend instead of resolving the issues with your husband, who has an incurable personality disorder.
