with the ACC. They are steadily falling ever further behind and they know it. The TV revenue doesn't come close to the SEC's old contract and that gap will only grow bigger now. In addition, they can't sell out their stadium largely because their home slate looks like this: 2 Division I-AA cupcakes, Wake, Duke and Boston College and the one sellout they can get all year, UF.
Their athletic department is funded by the taxpayers and Florida is in a budget crunch....so that means less money for fsu sports. They have an athletic department shortfall of $2.4 million this year. But....UF, UGA, Bama, Auburn, LSU, etc are increasing athletic department spending which is already larger than theirs and all are profitable.]
So...what do they do? At the rate things are going they will fall ever further behind. Thus the Big 12 is attractive to them if they could get more TV money and could occasionally at least get Bevo and Oklahoma to come to Taxpayer Stadium in Trailerhassee. Problem is...the ACC buyout is $20 mil and they're already running a deficit so how do they come up with the money? :^)
