look at what it was like when Larry Smith got here. I give Pinkel full credit for a great job, but Larry Smith stopped the bleeding that had decimated the program.
I recall Dan Devine talking about his decision to fire Bob Stull, and how difficult that decision was. Devine said when Stull came in over 40% of the players were on academic probation. (and we still weren't worth a crap on the field!) The Uehling/Widenhofer/Hart eras were filled with one screw up after another, each of which dug a deeper hole for our program.
Smith gave us hope.....
Pinkel built that hope into success....
