...a couple of comments about this - you're right about the throwdowns by the way. The interchange that has to occur requires a quick move to the plate by the pitcher followed by a clean exchange and an accurate toss by the catcher. Our current catching staff (Turner, Quintanilla, Carlisle) doesn't have a pop-time better than 2.1 seconds. I timed them during the OSU series. That's considered pretty slow. Consequently, a quick pitcher, clean exchange, and very accurate throw have to happen. In fairness to Ben, a big jump by the runner and a slow move by the pitcher take him completely out of the picture.
