People who vote in those polls don't care......

...about how many games a team has won in the past four years. Polls that come out this early (which are usually BS anyway) basically look at where and how you ended up last season with little thought of how teams will improve. "Respect" is earned when you win something of significance. If you guys win the SEC East people will start looking at you differently.
