There is some crazy stuff that can happen at the end of a game like that. My freshman year at MIzzou 1991 after beating Illinois, police were circled around the north end zone goal post with their billy clubs out trying to fend off fans trying to tear it down. One fan broke trough them first and hung onto the goal post while the cops clubbed him in the back. He held on and the police were finally overwhelmed by the crowd and left. Of course they grabbed some more passive students standing by, just so they could arest someone.
In 1998 after MIzzou beat KU and fans rushed the field Justin Smith lost his helmet to a Mizzou fan looking for a souvenir. He pulled it out of his fingers and ran the other way with it. Kirk Farmer saw it happen and tackled the MU fan and recovered the helmet for his teammate. Kirk was a true freshman that year and that was the most action he saw all day. Godzilla hadn't got his nick name yet, but was a starter and the best D lineman Mizzou had. That guy was a beast. I never heard of a true freshman showing up in July and kicking ass on the line like he did. He set the school record for the lifting 400+ pounds in the clean when the players were tested that year too. Unbelievable!
