That's a pretty big mischaracterization, IMO.
Hoiberg took a bunch of talented-but-troubled guys who were cast-off by some pretty established coaches (Izzo, Tubby Smith). Royce White stole from the university computer lab. Chris Allen got kicked off the MSU squad, and Korie Lucious was suspended for half a season before he walked.
You can argue that Hoiberg had no choice, since he was down to 3-4 scholarship players and was in desperate need of bodies.
But let's not equate the two situations. Haith brought in guys with no off-court issues that we know of, who wanted a different system, different coach, or the opportunity to compete at a higher level.
Not quite the same thing as trying to assemble the Big 10 All-Headcase Team.
