I don't know what a post-NCAA tourney poll accomplishes

At that point there is already a very large inclusive tournament where teams prove things on the court. The only reason a national poll is necessary is during the season because there are so many teams they don't all play each other or comparable schedules.

To me, you can either ask where we finished in the polls: #3, or you can ask what we did in the NCAA tournament: lost first round. I'm not sure what you would use a poll for that re-ranked the teams after the NCAA tournament. And at least personally, I've never put much stock in the coach's poll regardless as compared to the AP poll.
