It just says that you didn't know much about him.

My initial reaction to MU hiring Haith was huge disappointment...because I didn't know much about him.

So, you're saying you didn't have a reaction...or you just don't want to say you were initially disappointed. When I heard the Illinois hired Groce, I was disappointed. I thought you guys could do better.

Initial reactions don't mean anything. I'm happy we hired Haith, even though I was extremely upset at the beginning. I've liked him more as I got to know him better.

I'd guess your reaction was similar to mine.
