Big 12 is only 16 years old. SEC is 70. ACC is almost as old, as is the PAC. Pull the Big 8 football history into the Big 12 numbers and you'll see a much more even comparison. OU and NU won multiple championships between 1950 and 1990 when CU won a share of a football championship. ku won the '88 and '08 bball tourneys, of course
Big 8 AP football champs (11)
OU 1950, 1955, 1956, 1974, 1975, 1985
NU 1970, 1971, 1994, 1995
CU 1990
As Big 12 members (3)
NU 1997
OU 2000
UT 2005
There are about a dozen football selectors, in addition to the current AP and Coaches football polls.
OU had an additional 5 years selected by one or more non-AP organizations prior to Big 12
UT has another eight shared championships prior to Big 12 as member of the Southwest Conference
NU had another six prior to Big 12
MU has two
OSU has one
A&M had three
