Big 12 as a quality basketball conf

The strongest argument against that concept is that during the conferences regular season ku has won or shared the last 8 best conf records. That would never happen in a strong basketball conference. Furthermore, during that 8 year period ku has gone on to win a combined total of 5 games in the NCAA tournament over teams seeded higher than 8 (and one of those was largely a function of opponent injury and 2 more were related to probation). That sort of indicates that relative to the rest of the country, it doesn't stack up.

Its better now than it was its first 11 years, but the last time it had more than 3 teams ranked in the top 20 at the end of the season was 2000-01.
