There aren't enough great Kansas kids for even one school, BUT, kU has gotten talented Kansas kids when they were available, and Martin got kids like Spradling. Yes, kU recruits nationally, because they HAVE to, and they will pay whatever it takes to make that happen.
Martin got athletes for other reasons. First, he has strong hispanic community relationships, and second (and probably most important) was his strong AAU connections.
For Weber, there aren't enough strong Kansas kids year in and year out, he hasn't set up relationships there anyway, and he hasn't really recruited nationally. So where does he get top flight kids from? That's why I think it was a too quick and poor hire, and he will probably struggle and be gone in 3 to 4 years.
Now if he finds a way to get kids there, he can be successful, as I do agree he is a good x's and o's coach. But that is an awfully big if.
