I didn't think your points had much merit.

KU and KSU don't have the same recruiting areas. KU gets players from all over and KSU has primarily been regional, related to Frank Martin's ties. How many times have KSU and KU gone head to head for players?
"Weber's team quit on him this year, and that is an ominous thing for a head coach to EVER go through anywhere."
They lost quite a few close games. They quit after our jackass of an AD publicly refused to endorse Weber and after they were virtually eliminated from the NCAA tourney. Look at the home loss to Wisconsin. Look at the home loss to Purdue. Nebraska was the bottom and their season was toast at that point. The team didn't quit on Weber.
"We will see if he can recruit in a state that where he has no real connections, against a school in his own state that always gets highly rated classes."
Doesn't matter. They recruit different players.
"In his home state Illinois, he regularly lost out on the top ranked Chicago kids to schools out of state, and this with Illinois having no real instate competition for athletes."
So, he lost out on the players (tOSU, Kentucky, Duke, Kansas) but Illinois has no real instate competition for athletes? That's contradictory. Weber lost out on Top 50 talent in 07-08, he landed Top 50 talent in 09, 10, 11.
That said, I agree it's an odd hire.
