But a game plan that predicates winning by knocking out a starting QB is a low percentage approach and frankly, a weak argument.
You simply cannot count on that happening. You win by stopping a team from doing what they do best on both sides of the ball.
The what-if game will always go on when there is a key injury for either team. Fans will discuss it for years, and it can't be prevented.
The best way to approach this is to respond, "we'll never really be able to answer that theoretical question, but the bottom line is, Alabama won the national championship."
That will probably shut them up, unless they are just drunk, stupid, or both. And life is too short to spend much time engaging with the drunk and stupid.
