From a purely practical perspective

the "death" of the Big 12, depending on exactly what form that death would take, could potentially enhance both Mizzou's and the SEC's stability and marketability...either through the addition of more strong teams to the SEC, or increasing Mizzou's ability to recruit in the former "Big 12 territory" because the schools in those territories would have splintered off into different leagues, some of them perhaps weaker ones.
Moreover, the Big 12 finally dying would do a lot to justify Mizzou's move to all the skeptics and critics both nationally and regionally. That in turn would help rather than hurt Mizzou's public image which in turn helps recruiting, donations, fan devotion and attendance, etc.
So actually there are plenty of actual, logical, non-imbecilic reasons to hope for the Big 12 to die.
