In part it REALLY thrived post WWII with extremely generous GI Bill paying for higher education and govt investment in Infrastructure and Space exploration and tons of govt investments that laid seeds from which the nation - the private sector could flourish. Thing call the Internet comes to mine. Yeah, gee govt investment had nothing to do with any of that.
