he is basically a contemporary of Norm Stewart and very similar to Norm in a lot of ways. Both played and graduated from the school they went on to coach at and both coached a long damn time. Boeheim started out as a grad assistant in 1969 and head coach in 1976 (Norm was hired at Missouri in 1967).
Guy had a great run and won alot of games. But in the past decade, he seemed to be recruiting more and more suspect players and now just has a collection of egotistical thugs. Then it comes out that his program had an assistant coach sleeping with little boys, a wife banging players, positive drug tests swept under the rug, widespread academic woes and a general lack of institutional control.
I think the guy has a mental disorder. Win at all cost to satisfy his ego. Feel above the rules and untouchable. Unable to walk away. He is destroying whatever legacy he had in the past several years, just like JoePa. Sad really.
