But most accounts, we read about the 12.41 million exit figure for both Missouri and Texas A&M. However, reading this article from ESPN:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7626832/big-12-imposes-missouri-tigers-texas-aggies-exit-buyout-1241-million

We see this excerpt:
"The Big 12's new television contract with Fox Sports will activate on July 1, 2012, and Missouri agreed to waive all benefits from the conference's new deal, according to the release. Texas A&M, however, will receive a portion of the benefits from the contract."

Does anyone know what factually accounts for the variance and why? Why would Missouri or Texas A&M have any interest in a television contract for a conference they're no longer a part of as of that date?
