as years go by, fewer folks had to share bathrooms or even bedrooms

Dorms, schools, gyms, etc, all have gone to more private. The community gym I go to, the naked guys also are way more friendly and willing to chit-chat while getting dressed.

Just a societal shift. More privacy and less human interaction.
