So here is a question I had when watching 3 body problem

or what ever it was called. The big bad wolf seems to be the first instances of a liar the aliens encountered. They can't fathom why someone would misrepresent themself. I ask, why would they present themselves as a human in the 3 body problem game? Either this is a plot hole or they knew all along about lying. Seems like a plot hole since the whole premise of some of the trickery the "goverments" are trying is based on them not being able to lie.
